Hi guys. This is my first post since joining. Although I have gleaned quite a lot of information from here and i definitely appreciate the help. Here's the deal. I have an 89 Bronco 2, 2WD with a 2.9 liter and Mitsubishi 132, 5 speed tranny. I bought the truck about a year ago for $500. It needed a radiator and water pump so I was told. After I fixed the radiator, water pump head gasket, timing gears and chain, and cracked head It ran great. I also have replaced the clutch, slave cylinder and had the flywheel surfaced, I also bled the clutch. Everything seemed to work fine until I tried a quick take off. Not squealing tires but just a little more aggressive than usual. I heard and felt a grumbling noise in first and second gear. So I thought maybe I shouldn't take off that quickly. Yesterday I drove over several rough desert roads and everything seemed fine until I hit the asphalt and then I smelled clutch burning. I was going down hill so I depressed the clutch pedal for about two minutes. The smell cleared and never returned when I released the clutch pedal. The smell thing has happened once before under the same circumstance, shortly after returning to the asphalt. I don't know but I do not believe that it is possible to push the pilot bearing out through the front of the flywheel because of the crank and I don't know how a tranny would act without the pilot bearing. As I live in the country and do not have any neighbors near that can help I really do not want to have to pull the transmission again. It took me two and a half days a bunch of skin and some frantic swearing to get it in by myself last time. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
