ok, when i bought my explorer donor rig the clutch didnt release. the P O said it was a new clutch, but needed a master cyl. after checking it out, i found it was leaking fluid where the line goes into the master. took the line off, and the o-ring is shot. here is my problem, no one in my area can sell me an o-ring the right size or that will handle brake fluid! has anyone else had this issue? i really dont want to spend $70 for a 19 cent o-ring! if any one has a suggestion, i am all ears! ive tried napa, car quest, and the hydraulic shops in my area

Hmm, have you tried a plumbing or HVAC store? Could you post some dimensions of the O-Ring? Maybe someone on here could help you if we had the dimensions. Some towns are better than others for getting random parts, and usually the auto parts stores are the worst places to try as they just want to sell you the whole part rather than allow you to repair your old one. Could you possibly post a picture of the problem for us as well, I'm kind of scratching my head on the O-Ring location you are talking about.

The clutch setup in your Explorer must be different than my Bronco 2 because I'm not seeing an O-Ring for that line it just friction fits over the fittings unless I'm looking at the wrong thing. The other end that has the line that comes out and goes down to the transmission I think has an O-Ring in the back of it.

Post up the size/dims. I might have one to send you.

As far as media compatibility goes, I just looked up Dot4 brake fluid. The best materials for the o-rings are EPDM, Hiflour FKM, Perflouroelastomer FFKM, or Styrene-Butadiene SBR.

The fair materials (usually ok for static seals) are Aflas (TFE/Propylene) FEPM, Neoprene, Butyl and Hypalon CSM.
