So I'm almost ready to pull my engine and trans out, the ONLY things left are the hydraulic clutch line and the motor mounts. How does the clutch line disconnect? Can I use the same tool on it as is used for the fuel line quick disconnects? I went to the auto parts store and they said those quick disconnect tools (the ones I have used for fuel lines) are the only ones made. They said it should work on a Ford clutch line, but it doesn't seem like it wants to go... Thanks in advance guys

Certainly not. Go to a better more knowledgeable parts store. They have readily available a removal tool, its a flat metal tool with a u shape punched out of it on one end and 2 different sized hexes that would fit the bleeder screw, a bigger one and a smaller one. Push against the plastic retainer with the u- shape of the tool and once you release the retainer the line comes right out. Once you figure it out should take you about 5 seconds from there.

There is the guy using one.

There should be a small round white plastic clip on the end of the line going into the tranny, you need to push that 'in' towards the tranny with either the tool or a flathead screwdriver, then pull the line out. Sometimes it comes out easy, sometimes it's a PITA.

You don't need any special tools. Just use a screwdriver to carefully push the white plastic ring into the slave and pull the line out.

thanks guys. Looks like the white plastic sleeve on mine is damaged to the point where it won't slide in far enough to engage the fingers on the disconnect. Tried using a screwdriver and a couple other macguyver tools to jam it in but it won't go. BUT, I was able to get a new slave from napa made by Perfection Clutch (this is the way to go, the cylinder housing is metal, not plastic, the kit comes with new plastic sleeve, disconnect tool, instructions). Perfection Clutch also has a couple very helpful videos on their website. I am going to put the new sleeve in there and use the tool on it and see if that does the job. Thanks again
