I just got this 96 super 4x4 3.0 5 speed 2 weeks ago. the previous owner said it needed a rear main seal and was leaking into the clutch disc causing it to slip. I dropped the trans, inspected everything and the clutch disc was dry. I put everything new- clutch/pressure plate/throwout bearing/flywheel and a slave. i gravity bled the system and got a firm pedal- engaged half way before she would grab, yeah. here's the problem &$^%@* now it grabs all the way at the top and drives fine for a while then starts to slip real bad if i step on the gas with my foot totally off the clutch. my pedal has great pressure and isnt spongy at all, the only thing i didnt replace was the master. could my master cause this to happen ? even if it has excellent pressure ? its driving me bonkers . i dont have any leaks and the resevoir level is still at the max level. the rear main was fine, but the oil pan gasket was toast and i replaced that,oh what fun that was lol. im thinking bad master or defective pressure plate from advance auto parts. HELP:shout:

well tonight i was driving it like i stole it , i layed into it in first ....took it to a 5,000 r's banged 2nd ....dumped the clutch expecting it to bark 2nd......i went nowhere. i felt a pop , pulled over at the local wawa and found brake fluid on the floor. the clutch master finally went on me 10 minutes after the auto parts store closed. the clutch pedal springs back every time and doest have as much pressure as it did before , but when i let it out all the way......it just isnt letting the clutch grab at all. i thought if the master went.....the clutch would never dis engage (meaning that there should be no slipping at all) and should be able to go into gear. it goes into gear but just wont move with the clutch out :dntknw:. ill let you guys know what happens after i install the new master.:3gears:
