alright well ive search the whole site an read all the bypass threads an still cant figure out how to bypass the clutch switch on my truck. it says theres 2 wires at the switch but my 1992 ford ranger 4 L manual, has 6 wires (red/lt Blue, pink, green, lite blue, white/ red, blue/yellow) what wires do i cross to bypass this?

the small wire on the top of the starter relay i was checking continuity to find where that wire goes an i found that it goes to a connector in the cab but its a red/white wire not the red/lt blue thats on the relay an then there is not wiring coming out of that connecter where the red/white wire goes in? so am i missing something that wont let my truck start?. or to make things easier how do i wire up a 2 way toggle switch to that post on the relay so i can manual start the starter?

see i just used a little piece of wire an pushed it into the slot for the pink an reb/lite blue an tried an it did not work?

like when i turn the key over nothing happens but if i jump the starter relay out the motor kicks over so what would be wrong?

Does your truck have a PATS system (theft light)? If so, the light should be on steady when the key is on before it can crank. Blinking fast would indicate a malfunction and no starter... Still could be the clutch switch, or even the key switch.

I belive I crossed different wires. I will check for you. after dinner

I guess on an 89 BII the wires are different colors. I crossed the pink wires on both sides.

snake where is the theft device located? i highly doubt the truck has it cuz it was pretty much gutted when i bought it so. an swamprat thanks for looking

ya i just grab one of those caps from an automatic an put it in but my truck still wont turn over? so i think im just goin to rig up a toggle switch to start it.

IF that is the case the circuit is interrupted elsewhere.

This truck isn't an "in progress" conversion from an automatic is it?

The starter circuit is what an electrical technician would call
"daisy chain" wiring.

the clutch interlock is one of THREE switches that
turn on the starter relay

there's the obvious ignition switch, there's the clutch interlock switch
and there's the neutral safety switch.

And even though a manual trans truck doesn't HAVE a Neutral Safety Switch
it DOES have part of the wiring for it and a Jumper, a little loop of wire, where the transmission harness connects to the engine bay harness.

Look on the plastic inner fender back below the master cylinder.
There are two connectors there, one is to the "Frame harness"
on a 1993-94 there are two smaller ones that goes to the
engine guage sensors AND to the transmission there should
be a little loop of red wire with a blue stripe off the back of
one of those smaller connectors.

^^ no it was always a manual, an il have to check the tranny harness to see if i missed connecting something when i put the motor in the truck.

Ugh, yea. My switch went bad a year ago, all I did was jump 2 pins with a piece of wire and tape it up. No problems.

think he was right with pink, red/light blue.

Just keep in mind it will of course move the car if its in gear...

Off topic, but I've got to say I love you guys with the nobama avitars... and Allan D's signature. You guys "get it" despite the media's portrayal of the commie we have in office.

see i tried jumping those same wires an it didnt work. like when i would turn the key over the day time runnings lights would shut off where as before with the swtich pluged in an clutch to the floor they would stay on so i just put one of those plugs frrm an automatic in an im just goin to wire up a push button to start it. an i do realize it will move when its in gear, its not a big deal this is just my trail truck not my DD so ill beable to remember to have it in neutral

"Cap" from auto into stick = no cruise?

I have one of those caps from an auto in my stick shift (94 4.0L) and have no cruise. Does the computer think that my clutch is in so the cruise won't work?
