So ranger has been sitting for almost a month trying to fix everything up. I get her running but now I have a soft clutch peddle. Air just get in the system? how do I bleed it so I can get the air out if that is the problem. It wont shift into any gear. Clutch was fine before. What now?!

Get some brake fluid. Fill the master cylinder, leave the cap off and then open the bleeder on the slave. Let the fluid drip for a few seconds then close it up and put the cap back on. Pump the pedal a few tmes. Then open the bleeder.Post back the results

Probably the slave. If it is the slave just replace all the hydraulics.

Have a look down in the bell for fluid.

Just Curious. Does the 88 have an external slave?

No, all Rangers have internal except I think one odd tranny in the first couple years of production...

If the fluid isn't leaking at the master or slave it's probably air in the master, fill up the reservoir and put the pedal to the floor and slip your foot off, do this like 5 times until the pedal is solid again, other than bench bleeding the thing that's the only way I know of getting air out of the master...

I posted before how to bleed while installed, requires you to pull the push rod out of the master to let air out. There have been many suggestions on how to but this is the easiest. I think it was put into the tech section. Questions just send me a mail and I will reply. If you find it is more than air, R&R all the components, slave and master as I found if you add a new one to an old one the old will fail soon after the new install. Dont ask how I found this.
