I'm working on a 94 ranger xlt. it has the hose coupling that you have to use the fork tool to slide the plastic sleeve back. I've slid the sleeve back as far as it can go and it still wont come off. I've pulled the coupling as hard as i can, even used a pair of channel locks on it. i'm tryin to avoid scarring or damaging it cuz another one is about 90 bucks and i cant swing that. any ideas would be so appreciated. Please help!!!

They're a bitch. New clutch comes with a tool for that. See if your local parts store has a tool you can borrow or buy.

some compressed air to blow out debris, some pb blaster, and patients, also try to push in before pushing the plastic collar back, then wiggle it off, dont try a straight pull

I used the tool already. i got the plastic sleeve all the way back with it and it still wont budge

kevin i already had the plastic sleeve pushed back. its back as far as i can get it and ive tried wiggling it and twisting and everything. i just refuses to budge. ive tried pushing back in and every which way. I dont know what to do. ive already scarred the edges of the coupling with channel locks tryin to get it out

this sounds really half a$$ed, but maybe have someone mash the clutch pedal while you're pulling on the line? kinda use the hydraulic pressure to help out a little?

Ive got it off now and the damn thing wont go back on the new one. i've fought with it forever. I even ran into the problem that the new slave cylinder back is plastic and alot thicker unlike the old one which was just a thin piece of aluminum. I had to run back to auto zone to get some bolts that were long enough to put it on. might wanna let people know ahead of time if they intend to change a slave cylinder on this style ranger.
