I'm fairly new to it, never drove a clutch before my first ranger. I understand what "riding the clutch" is, I don't do that because working on vehicles I know changing a clutch will suck. How do you guys work on hills for example, there is a red light and you have to stop on an incline. What do you do? I just move real quick from brake to gas and floor it to keep from rolling back. A bunch of kids my age in high school act to be pros at clutch driving although they been driving as long as I am but what is feathering? I read up in the Tech library to keep off the clutch as much as possible, but all everyone says is "feather the clutch", I don't see a problem with being in 1st and just idling through a trail, because you really don't stall until you stop. What do you have to say for a beginner besides practice?

i have been driving a stick for 2 years took me about 2 days to get decent at it. When your on a hill when it is your turn to go you want to let the clutch up a little until it is just about to grab then switch from break to gas and let the clutch out easy. all i can say is drive around with one until you get the hang of it.

I'm gonna try it on a hill, let it up a bit at grabbing point then gas.
