Cluster swap

I have a 1996 Ranger 2.3L 5 speed. The truck did not come with a Tach. I purchased a cluster out of a 96 Explorer that had a tach.

First I pulled out my cluster and then proceeded to remove the speedometer needle. I unbolted the odometer (which also includes some speedo stuff) from the original cluster and then put it on the cluster with the tach that is going in my truck.

I installed the cluster and now the speedometer is off. Did I mess something up when I switched over the odometer and speedo parts?

I had a similar problem. Im not sure but i think there is a resistor on the circuit board that adjusts for tire size or something and it seems like the speedometer is off and mine goes out intermittently. Also the temp guage and CEL dont work at all. The pin from the harness needs to be switched to match the explorer cluster, but i havent found a wiring diagram online. I swapped my old speedo and temp guage with no results, so thats why i think it may be in the circuit board.

i swapped plenty of gauges into my ranger in the past month..i found out the hard way that, unless you have the proper tools and loads of playing time, do NOT under ANY circumstances pull the needles. I know have a mazda cluster out of a 97-2000? b4000..not a clue what year it is, but its great looking.
