Hot Dog! This brake problem has bert in a pickle.
Pete - you calling me a post-whore?
Back to the subject - When I first read this, I was thinking along the lines of Mark_88. (Just don't ever tell him that) When you back up and step on the brakes, if the shoes move enough they adjust the brake tensioner. Those things can freeze up and allow the shoes to be loose and make weird noises. I'd at least check that.
