Ive tryed this thread before and didnt get much so ill try again. My 92 ranger is 2wd to start. When the truck is in park and at an iddle i get some shaking. not to much butt a little. when shifting into reverse from park there is a short pause and then it makes a clunk noise before switching into reverse. Ive heard a couple suggestions as to what this may be but im hoping someone on here can clear this up for me.
Ive been told.
-U joints
-Drivetrain fluid
-motor mounts

have you ever done u joints?......i had the same thing and u joints was my fix......
does it ever clunk into drive?

It does barely. Not even really noticeable, well at least compared to shifting it into reverse. No i have not done u joints , butt i heard it is not that hard of a job.

It's a A4LD. They do that. Ignore it.
Both of my rangers clunked into reverse and clunked a little into first, and always clunk when in OD because of the toque converter lock up.

u joints took me about an hour to do all 4 and most of that was beating the old ones out....
get under the truck and see if their is any slop in the driveshaft
