I am trying ot resolve my clunk. I have a driveshaft with a ujoint at each end the end that goes into the tranny has what i think is called a slip yoke, but i am not sure, it has teeth at the end and slides into the tranny,,,, )i don't have the slip yoke with a boot over it) if i take my foot of the gas and coast then give the truck gas i hear a clunk, the sound is similar to a bad ujoint. I have checked the ujoints and i think they are fine. when the truck is parked in gear i have some play in the rearend and thus the tranny....... should i have play in this.........could my pressure plate be going bad......I don't know a lot about this part of the truck.thanks for any feedback

I have found some of those by rocking the vehicle back and forth to get it to make the clunk.Either get a friend or rock it with your foot while your under there keep putting your hands on things till you can feel it.

I think it could be motor mounts-trans mount, also the ring and pinion may need to be reshimmed due to gear ware. thats aside from the U-joints
