I'm planning on changing my timing tensioners on my 01'. Are Cloyes any good or should you always go with Motorcraft? I've heard good and bad. I'll have to see if I can even get genuine Motorcraft ones, but I expect a crazy price for them.

Cloyes is supposed to be a decent brand. I actually just picked up a Cloyes set for a friend’s 4.0 so we will find out

Consider how much work it is to replace them before deciding how much more you're willing to pay for Motorcraft.

Cloyes are easier to get, I cant find any site that ships genuine motorcraft tensioners to Canada. I'm thinking that a local dealership could order them in, of course at mind boggling price.

I'm willing to do work as I expect to do it multiple times to keep it running, I will pay the price for motorcraft if Cloyes are not trustworthy.

Check OE for sure.

I have a Cloyes set in my Ranger... but a 5.0 is much much different than a SOHC 4.0. :scare:

I have Coyels in a few engines without issues. For me it has not been an issue.

I think mellings is the oem for motorcraft, although I’m not sure. Could look for them as well.
