Clicking noise

Hi all,

I have a 94 B3000, 2wd, auto. I recently changed the front rotors, calipers, pads, and bearings.

While driving, I hear a constant clicking noise on the drivers side until I press the brake pedal, and it is more or less rapid depending on speed.

One thing that came to mind was the inside pad moving, so I checked it out and there doesn't seem to be any play in it. Any ideas what may be causing this?

is the anti rattle clip on the bottom of the inner pad properly positioned? are the rubber pins in good shape or are they pretty smashed? is your backing plate bent inward towards the rotor at all?

Thanks for the reply. The backing plate looks fine. I didn't see a retaining clip for the inner pad, just the clip for the outer pad. There were grooves in the back of the caliper for the inner pad to sit in. I'll check this week for a retaining clip on the inner pad.

When I got the new calipers they came with new pins, but it is possible that one is not in good shape. After the first time test driving, hearing the clicking, and rechecking, one of the pins was sticking out further than it should be able to. I took it out and readjusted it. I'll check that this week as well.

Fixed - I hadn't installed the anti rattle clip. I honestly didn't see one on the old pads, so I didn't think to put them on the new pads. Now I know for next time
