After replacing a sensor, is there any difference in clearing the code with a scan tool versus disconnecting the battery? Thanks for any input.

Yep. 96 and newer disconnecting the battery doesn't clear the code it just turns the light off. Go to Advance, Az etc and they'll let you use their reader to clear it. Just be sure to have some drive time in on the new part before ya do.

Yeah if you disconnect the battery for 5-10 minutes or more it will reset the ecu, on any year vehicle. And you should always reset the ecu after replacing a sensor.

Thanks. I just replaced the DPFE sensor and cleared the P0401 code with a scan tool but did not disconnect the battery. Sounds like I also need to disconnect the battery to reset the ECU with the new sensor in place. Thanks again.
