Die grinder with cutoff wheel:icon_thumby:

Grinder with a fiber disk, if the motor's not in already.........

Under maximum engine twist you'd probably want something like >1/16" clearance. So your clearance between the header and frame rail (with the engine not running) depends on your motor/trans mount. If they are very solid, 3/16" clearance would probably do. If they are really soft might need to start out with 1/2" or more. Also, if you are doing so pretty rough wheeling, might want to leave more too.

1/2"........just to be on the safe side......that way the frame won't turn bright red along with the header........LOL....grind or cut a clearance notch in the frame if necessary to get some clearance (you can weld a support plate next to the notch if your worried about the notch weakening the frame around the notch....not really necessary unless your an engineer!!!)

I've had less than a sixteenth clearance between the frame flange and my right side tri-y (they're almost touching) for 9 years and no issues from it.
