Just wanted to say, incase nobody had cleaned their mass air flow sensors recently, I just did mine with some elctric cleaner and I'm getting over-the-top acceleration and throttle response. I highly recommend taking 15 minutes to do this!

you wouldnt believe how many times ive done this for people who are exasperated with repair shops telling them all kinds of things are wrong causing them bad mileage I would persoannly suggest specific mass air flow cleaner

Yeah I took it apart to the wire screen and sprayed some in the chamber. Didn't have the screwdriver bit to take out one of the screws, the other one had a dab of paint on top so wasn't accesable. But wow, definatly an improvement in throttle response:yahoo:

i took mine all apart to clean and was surprised at how dirty it was and how easy it was to clean. doesnt take long, its easy to do, and helps alot.

I fixed a 6.0L diesel the other day by cleaning the MAF. Everytime the truck accelerated, a huge black cloud bellowed from it , no power and the tranny would flare on upshifts. Cleaned all the muck off the MAF- no smoke and huge power gains and perfect tranny.

You want to see a happy customer...................:icon_thumby:

gotta love the simple cheap fixes

They have some special MAF specific cleaner that is supposed to be better for it than carb cleaner...

I made the mistake one time of touching the maf with my finger on my old 05 impreza, put it back in, tried to drive it, and I lost most my power and my cruise control started flashing on and off and wouldn't work... one squirt of maf cleaner and it ran better than before :icon_thumby: it does wonders to my ranger too

If you are going to use a chemical spray, it should be made for cleaning electronic parts. Do not use sprays that will leave an oily residue, or have harsh chemicals that will damage the sensor.

The best way to clean the MAF is with isopropyl alcohol and a q-tip. Just be careful not to damage the sensor. On some sensors, the oil gets caked on, and you have to use a small, flexible brush to get it off. I use a magnifying glass to make sure it is completely clean.:)shady
