Is there a good way to clean out all of the clutch dust from the clutch and areas around it without taking anything apart. Also, there is a squeaking sound when I depress the clutch pedal coming from the clutch area. I was hoping this would cure it. Brake cleaner? Compressed Air? What clould I do since mine looks filthy looking up in there?

Does your squeaking sound kind of like 'chirping'? The reason I ask you have two bearings in the clutch system.

First is the throwout bearing. On the input shaft, it is the larger one, it moves from the rear to the front to disengage the clutch by depressing the pressure plate.

The second bearing is a small, usually needle type, bearing that is installed in the flywheel and is called the pilot bearing. The front end of the transmission input shaft fits in this bearing to stabilize the shaft in the center of the flywheell/clutch plate.

The reason I asked if the sound you hear is chirping is the pilot bearing so much smaller than the throwout bearing that might be what your hearing. You can only lub that bearing once, when it is installed.

But you don't want to spray any chemicals on the clutch disc you could do more harm than good. If there is a lot of clutch dust well it can only come off the clutch disc and as it wears you get residue ie;dust.

Don't shoot the messenger here, but sounds like you are going to have to pull the trans to actually see what is wrong. Do you have any idea when your clutch was installed?

Well, if you suspect hydraulics, it's exactly the same if the engine is stopped.

NONE of the bearings are. So, if you get a chirp with the engine off, you can go after the hydraulics.

UNLESS the clutch is packed with mud, I wouldn't try cleaning it with anything. If it IS packed with mud, use a garden hose and clean it out with the engine turned off.

brake cleaner will work all brake cleaner is, is denatured alcohol (it will evaporate really quickly and leave no residue)

Are you the sure the squeak is not coming from the actual clutch pedal assembly at the floor? I've had them squeak on a couple different trucks when ever you push down the pedal.
