I just recently acquired a Clarion 12" Sub
Model number PXW 1251

Im building a blowthrough enclosure since I dont have the room inside the cab for this sub (or any others that I want)
The enclosure will be tuned to 33Hz

I want to have round ports, I know that a single port 3.75" dia must be 6.435" long to give me 33Hz, for the two, do I just make a second one of the same dimensions?

Here are a few pics of what I have designed so far:

External Dimensions
14" H
18" total depth (15" enclosed)
32" W
3/4" material
Sealed volume of 2.978 Cu / Ft

don't take my word.. but if you have two of those ports at the same dimensions as above, wouldn't that change what you wanted it tuned to be?

like.. twice as low or something?

i would think that if one port at size x/y got your ideal "z" tune...

wouldn't dimensions (x/y) + (x/y) = z/2??

not sure, but that is what is logical to me :)
maybe i'm just a math nerd and include math into whatever i can :icon_rofl:

p.s. - lovin the sketchup work... i have it downloaded, but can't figure the shit out lol

Thats why Im trying to figure it all out, I know how to get the correct tune with pretty well any port size, but thats only single port. I dont have a freaking clue about dual ports.

I didnt know how to use sketchup before yesterday, I just pulled up the woodworking template and started playing.

lol id love to help but i got lost when i looked at the pic. and blow thru you mean ported, if you port to 33hz with the right size port you just need that one making another one, you might end up with open air res, and you just built alot of box for nothing.

from the pic it looks like your trying to make a band pass box????

lil more info please

No, im making a blow through, meaning that the sub enclosure is mounted in the box of the truck, and a hole is cut in the front of the box, and the back of the cab to facilitate large subs in a small truck.
I managed to find the answer to my porting issue.
the pictures posted dont yet include the ports which will be goin in.
The nozzle (for lack of a better word) is there to reduce strain on the accordion seal I must use between the cab and box.

Looks good. Is that sketch up?

--Edit--

I need to read better. Haha.

Is there a setting (probably in paint mode?) to get the solid objects slightly translucent, or did you create that as well?

Its ordinary look, but if you go View > Face Style > X Ray, you turn the walls semi translucent.

I plan on taking a gazillion photos during the entire construction phase and post them up as a build thread.
When I get started Ill post a link here for those interested.

Ahh. Thanks, I'll have to try that out next time I design a box. I never do anything as nice as this, my boxes are always sealed.
