Have a 2002 XLT 4.0 I know I have a open 8.8 in the rear, but what about up front? The guys at 4wheel parts looked in the computer and said I have a 7.5 but after looking around on here looks like I have a dana 35? So who is right?

"7.5" is the common name for one of the two rear axles used in the rangers. your truck has a dana 35 in front which, coincidentally, has a 7.5" diameter ring gear.

so technically, everyones right...but its called a dana 35 :icon_cheers:

Make sure if you are ordering gears that you get the standard rotation gear set for the front Dana 35 with a 7.5" ring gear.

So if the box says Ford 7.5 on them i should be ok? Im only asking cuz a couple of months ago I picked up gears front and rear now just waiting to save up to put them in.

If the box says "Ford 7.5" then it is the wrong gear for the front. Those gears are for a Ford 7.5 rear end.

You need gears specifically for the Dana 35. The box should say "Dana 35".

no, the 7.5 is a rear axle. your front is called a dana 35. it has a 7.5" ring gear, but im almost certain they wont interchange.

you need dana 35 standard rotation gears.
