my buddy has a cj5 d44 that was narrowed down to fit, hes replacing with a gm d60. well he said i could have it, but it needs new gears(would need new ones anyways). its a passenger side drop, so im trying to figure out what to do to do a SAS on my rig. other then the obvious width difference(i could use spacers to make up for it), what would i have to do to get it in my rig. im not sure if the 1350 can be clocked, or if i would need to use a gm np205 divorce mount he has laying around. or if i could swap the side the tubes are on to make it a drivers drop. its already set up for YJ springs, so that wouldnt be a problem. which route should i go? the axle is free, and plenty strong for what im going to be using it for. i know the bolt pattern is different then what i have now, how can that be changed? i can also get his amc 20 rear if that would be a decent upgrade from my 7.5. if i did go the 205 route, would i have to use a 2wd tranny or could i use my current one with the small shaft btween the tranny and t-case, then get a custom rear made?

If it a true CJ5 then no it won't work. It's a passenger side drop.

i know that but its not the end of the world, its not hard to cut the tubes and swap sides of the pumpking with them, when sleeve where u welded with dom tubing cut in hald(for strength)

Just cuz something's free don't make it good. Yeah, you can do it but it will be a ton of work. Sell the axle and use the money to buy one that works.

So are you putting in a solid axle or what??? (why do I keep getting PM's from you asking about my setup?) :icon_confused:

Yes, find another axle, that one won't work (not only is it pass drop, it's much too narrow, even for using spacers)

im trying to figure out which way i want to go, will be getting a tow rig next year so i will be able to go a little more towards offroad only with some dd, but not ready for f/w
