My credo
If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
Went with my brother to circuit city earlier because he wants a new laptop. even with their "going out of business" 10% off sale they still wanted around $750 for a display model Sony Vio. Went to Best Buy and the same computer not on sale and not a display model was $649. Went back to Circuit City thinking they might deal and told them the not on sale price at Best Buy......... even took a picture with my brother's phone showing it was the same computer for $100 less................. the manager told us to buy it at best buy..... you would think that you would take what you can get durring a bankruptcy sale in this economy..........

I don't see how they expect to liquidate their inventory when their bankruptcy sale prices are still higher that best buy's not on sale prices............

The problem is when they higher a different liquidation company to come in and do it for them. That is the price that the outside company most likely set. Now why you would pay someone else to off your shit, when you ahve already claimed bankruptcy is beyond me. Wait another month or two and then their should be "deals." Also Circuit City still has a large inventory to get rid of, when they cannot order anymore of an item from the warehouse, the prices will drop.

they dont pay liquidation companies to sell there stuff, liquidation companies buy a store or 2 and inventory to sell for them selves, not for circuit city or other ones going under, my girlfriend just went through this working for linens and things with they were bought by a liquidator

yeah ....... I'm not in the market for any new toys at the moment unless they start selling V8 powered SUVs and pick ups....... Circuit City won't be getting any of my money. I bought a 4 year warranty and damage plan for my Laptop (I thought it was 2 and then I found the receipt) and no word yet on who is going to honor the remaining 18 months....... I talked my brother into upgrading his memory instead of buying a new laptop.

I just went to the City to look for a new camcorder(to make 4wheeling vids ofcourse) and they were 10%, the biggest i saw in the store was 30% and that was on some sh**** old xbox games! Im looking for it to drop next month but it better be at or beyond 50%! wut a bunch of :bsflag:

I would say you are out of luck with the extended warranty. Right after they filed I was reading that people should be cautious about buying their stuff, for this reason.

What I've heard they're doing in my town is raising their prices, that way when they drop them even more it LOOKS like you're getting a good deal because they knock a bunch off, but since they knock it off the higher price, you're actually paying pretty close to what you would have anywhere else...

Yeh my roommate stopped by last week to look at TV's. Since he has not really been in the market he was just looking at their selection which he said was horrible. But as a comparison, he found the GPS he got his sister a month ago at best buy and it was 200 there. Circut City was selling the same one for 250 after the 10% off. I say wait a month and then they will be dropping quite a bit. Or you can order it online and save money there!

I rode by a sign waver today... 30% off now.

It might be down to shelves and display racks by then, lol.

I went to one of the stores that closed before. They had nothing but junk and anything you would want to buy was more expensive then the competitors.

they should do pricematch. They used to match the price plus 10% of the difference. It was circuit city policy. I worked at sears in TV's and they were tough competition because of that.

my brother bought a refurbished Vio from Geeks.com for $549. I'll get the specs when it shows up. as for mine........the local computer guy here said he would sell me an 18 month service contract that includes warranty/damage/theft insurance for $100.......... dependent upon inspection and a proper cleaning. Funny .......... Circuit city tried to charge me $75 for cleaning when it was sent to their service center to get a new Hard drive when cleaning was part of the contract............ they had it for 6 weeks and in that 6 weeks they tried to charge me for the Hard drive, the cleaning, for a repair I didn't authorize or know it needed but was also covered under the warranty (processor fan). they also dropped it evidenced by the new lid and the dent in the speaker grill when i got it back.........
