Ok, so the other day I went to go push in my cig lighter, and it just kinda...pushed the entire thing inside of the dash, including the socket. :shok: So now I have a hole in my deck. Fortunately my Ranger has 2 cig lighters so I can still use the other one. I've tried my hardest to get it out and needle nose pliers just don't do the trick. Anybody had this problem? Anybody know if the deck can be removed so I can get it out?

you should be able to take the deck out with the removal of the 2 screws at the bottem of the bezel thing, then be able to access the cig light

Aright, I'll give it a shot and see if I can get it out. If I can get it out and manage to thread it back into the hole, what kind of adhesive can I use to keep it put?

Thats what I was thinking. Either that or some permatex industrial epoxy. I don't care about looks, just as long as it works.

See thats the wierd thing about it. I just went to push it in like any normal guy would, no huge amount of force, and it just popped inside the deck. I bet it was the stupid AZ sun rotting the plastic.

Yeah, those to holes above the HVAC controls have 2 screws, remove tne and the whole Bezel will come out.

Well heat makes plastic brittle as well as UV rays. Also do you use alot of Armor All? I have heard that it actually leeches the life out of plastic if you use it often

armor makes your plastic shine by drawing the moisture in it up to the top... causing the plastic to dry out and crack...

Nope, I don't care at all about the looks as long as it works and its comfy. It must just be the 100+ degree weather and UV that sucked the life out of the plastic. I remember one day back in '09- 122*F with 2% humidity...no A/C. And it was cooler with the windows up than down. Damn Arizona.

i don't smoke and mine broke. Good luck fixing it but I went to ford and bought a new one and replaced the faceplate. Its not hard. two screws at the bottom and it snaps out. Just be gentle.

Well I just took care of it and remember how I say I didn't care about looks? Well, it's not pretty but it works. I just ran the whole lighter outside the case since I couldn't get it to stay in place when I tried to glue it, so it's a project for another day when I actually feel like dealing with it.

draws moisture to the top? armor-all is petroleum based.
