I need some help. Got a 2001 ranger edge and as it goes up a hill, it seems like there is a chug or a jump from the rear axle. It seems kind of intermittent. I know there is some type of sensor on the rear differfential. Could this sensor be my problem? Any help or guidance from all of you pros out there would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!

Check the rear u-joints and/or carrier bearing in the driveshaft if you have one. Also check for excessive slop in the differential, there will be some play but too much (like if the pinion bearings are shot) it can flop around. Usually that will kill the pinion seal too.

The vehicle speed senser has nothing to do with it.
