Chrome.. or no chrome?

Doing up some paint schemes for my XJ. I'm torn between two ideas.

For one, I like the chrome on it because it has that old flashy look to it. It kind of screams "Hey look at me! I'm a classic!" and it's nice to have a nice break from everything being black.

But.. I hate chrome. I always have, and always will be, a fan of "murdered" trucks. I couldn't find a picture of a murdered out XJ in my generation, but I found the next closest thing.

So chrome.. or paint?

Another idea I have is all the chrome in red, but that would have a low resale value and has too much of a mall crawler look. I live in the boonies, the closest mall is 40 miles away, so having a mall crawler themed rig would be too much for me.

P.S. --> Try your best to ignore the fact that the lift, rims, tires, tint, bumper, and prettymuch everything else on the murdered rig make it look 99.9% better than mine.

I am if it's used right.

I'm shopping it up right now murdered, hopefully I'll be done by 1:30-2:00ish. So far I sort of like it, but that could be the lack of sleep talking.

i was born in the early sixties-missed the real chrome heyday of the 50's,but still a fan.there was a cj in a mag back in the 80's that was totally chromed(tub, hood, doors, everything)and i was one of the few who thought it was cool......still think that, but i wouldn't want to scrape or dent it.anyway, that's bordering on getting off topic.i say chrome the whole thing.be cool.:icon_hornsup:

both look good.
color matched looks a bit more updated imo
and it needs less care than chrome lol

ya,gotta go chrome....but it needs some shiny wheels too.edit-btw,nice photoshop work.

I don't like the wheels shiny, I'm going to go with a gloss black and do the "Jeep" inlay in red, and thanks!

should look good.i've had those things and beat the crap out of them, then sold 'em for more than i paid, still working.not a jeep guy myself, but i can't argue with the facts.

If it's a trail rig and it's gonna get beat up go paint. I'd look at the all paint and dents and say "That's a hard ass trail rig!" If you go chrome and it gets beat up I'd say "What a piece!" But that's my opinion. Chrome belongs on street queens.
