Decided to start a thread for my build that Ive been planning for a while. Ive got a pretty good idea of what Im going to do but any suggestions are well appreciated!

Starting with a 2000 Ranger
Currently:
3.0
M5ODR1
2WD
Extended cab

Hopefully will become a 4 wheeling machine

Ive already got:
2 D44's, a front and rear
5.13 yukon gears for both
ox locker for front
drive flanges instead of selectable hubs for the front
all bearings and seals needed to do full rebuilds from Spicer
steering box from my previous wheeler (88 ranger)

Potential problems:
I know that the frame isnt ideal but that doesnt mean it cant be done.
The front end that i have has a passenger side drop. Also not ideal but cant beat dirt cheap. At this point considering 2 options. Number 1 would be to use a passenger side divorced tcase (np205?). Number 2 is to swap to a 4wd extension housing and use the manual 1350 that i have lying around and another tcase(unsure of what tcase to use) to build a passenger side doulbler

Plans:
leaf sprung front and rear
MINIMAL lift
38's
some kind of locker for the rear
more crossmembers

No pics at the moment. Looking to bounce ideas for now

truthfully i think you would be better off trying to trade what you have for a driver drop d44 and a 9 inch or an 8.8 that way things would be much easier...

to run the passenger drop on a ranger your going to have to move all the exhaust to the driver side and then adapters and such for the transfer case

IMHO, i would go driver drop but its your truck

unfortunately there is almost no desire for p side axle housings and d side housings are way too expensive in my area. im not too concerned about the exhaust. Gotta try to make what ive got work

find a junkyard or a bare housing and swap your stuff over to the other housing....a d44 housing can be had around here for $50 bucks....complete for $70

it would be better to spend the money now then be fighting it all later
