Is this carb or fuel injection? The FI doesn't have a choke from what I understand, but it does have a warm air vent for engine warm up. That would be a tube running up from the exhaust manifold. That may be staying open which would restrict air flow and may cause the engine to run rich till it warms up.
If it's carbed like mine then it could be choke sticking. In that case you may want to disable it temporarily to test. They generally have a mechanism on the butterfly to open/close. Remove that and manuually choke it to start (if needed). If that clears up the symptoms you may need to replace the choke.
