Ive heard of chevys new truck that runs on 4 cylinders and 8 cylinders

They say when your pulling things you can make it a v8 but when your just driving it can be a v4

I cant figure out how that works. i thought something like just the injectors shut of to 4 of the cylinders, but i dont know.

anyone have a clue how this works

If it's anything like the caddillacs of the seventies, not very well.

i see, never thought of that. some of that still didnt sink in, but what is says that it keeps the valves closed and keeps the pressure is the displaced cylinders

Cadillac did that through the 80's in some cars too. My buddy had a Seville with one of those motors. Pretty cool stuff - 12MPG in town and 35 on the highway!

The version in the '80s was miserable.

Modern technology finally has the processing power to make it practical.

Soon, there will be no cables connected to your engine. It will all be electrical connectors.

Drive-by-wire throttle is now common and there are rumblings of a 48v system instead of 12v so that all accessories (A/C, power steering, water pump, etc.) can be driven electrically.

Can't wait for the hood that can only be opened by the dealer! :clapping:
