Does anybody know of a good chevy truck forum like TRS thats really helpful? Im restoring my grandfathers c10 and I would like to find some good chevy guys that can help me out?:icon_cheers:

I ocasionally ask a question at chevytalk.org but I don'tt get alot of replies so I come back over here and ask Will ....... its usually quicker that way.

What year c10 and what would you like to know?

Its an 84, I think its a c10. Dont know much about chevys and the models. Its an 84 custom deluxe.

My first question was what transmission came with this truck. I looked all over the trans for an Id number, or something that would tell what it was, but theres nothing. The trans went out a long time ago, and it either needs replacement, or rebuilt.

'84 would probably be a C 1500. The trans would probably be a 700 R4. Look at the shift indicator. Is it 4spd or 3spd. Custom deluxe is pretty misleading, that usually means that it is a stipped down model.
Is it a 4.3, 5.0, or 5.7?

Its a 350 so, 5.7. Its an automatic, thats all I can tell you, I think its a 4 speed. The trucks not at my house. Im going to pick it up tomarrow, so I will look to see if says what speed it is.

go to fullsizechevy.com a bunch of good people there an they help out alot i go on this site to cuz im building up a 78 sierra 4x4.

I thought the 1500/2500/3500 were 88 and newer. I looked at an 85 burban and it was a C20 and my 85 conversion van was a G20...... 88 and newer on the burbans and vans went to 1500/2500/3500

I wasn't sure on the 10 or 1500. I'm pretty sure he has a 700 though.
I try not to know anything more than I have to about chevy. I work on more Chevies at work than anything else.
Just Googled it, It is a C10. Sorry for the confusion.

Its alright, you know more than I do about chevys. C10 was my first guess. Is there any way to comfirm that it is a 700. Like the bolt pattern of the transmission pan, or the tailshaft. Something specific.
