so, i got flowmaster original 40 mufflers on my ranger, its a true dual 2 1/2 inch and dumped before the rear axle.

im going to extend the pipes to run lightning style just to get the sound out from under the truck.

but im wondering if i should change em to cherry bomb extremes, then run them lightning style.

i like the flowmasters alot, but i wouldnt mind a little louder and throatier sound.

any of you v8 guys running the extremes?

I'm not v8, but I'm running a glass pack on my 4cyl and really wish i hadn't to me it sounds like the fart can's on the ricers.
my vote would be keep the flowmasters on and just extend your tail pipes like noted in your original post

the extremes are NOT glasspacks.

there a single chambered muffler like the flowmaster, just smaller, and louder.

If the extremes are a single chamber then its just like the Flowmaster 10 series, in my opinion it will be way to loud. I would stay with the 40's and run the pipes out to the back. It should sound more like a healthy v8 with a 2 chamber muffler on there.

oh it sounds healthy, just is a little quiet at an idle, thats why i wanna run the pipes out just a little more.

the sound of the mufflers just dumped under the cab when hitting about half throttle is addicting, but it drones a bit much.

im thinking the extremes will just sound insane when i weld em up.

the flowmasters are just a little tame for me.

heres some clips for reference

my truck aint no where near stock. ive done some things to that 350 buddy, i didnt share everything i did to it.

and the turndowns are about a foot-foot and a half from the ground

i tucked those mufflers up very nicely.

and i have to dissagree and the dumps vs full exhaust.

you every hear a nice throaty chevelle or camaro, not a lumpy cam, just a nice sounding engine, the dumps may be a little tame at idle, but when you hit the gas, i firmly believe a flowmaster sounds 10090000000 times better with no tailpipe on it, or a very short one at that.

but thats just my opinion. the reason that my flows sound a little tame at idle is becasue of the dumps, the sound is just hitting the road, if i brought the pipes out just a little, you would hear it alot more.

alright, i decided to just extend the flowmaster pipes out a bit.

thanks everyone

I had the flowmaster 40s lightning style for quite a while.

today i ran some 2 1/2 pipes straight out the back with as little bends as possible

OMFG. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. the thing sounds so healthy now. and looks 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000x better.

i dont even have echo cans on it. just 2 1/2 pencil tips and it sounds so good.

THANK YOU :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
