So I'm going to check my fuel pressure tomorrow but I'm almost dang sure it's the valve in the pump. Is there anyway I can just replace the valve and not the whole assembly? I'm going to order the pump tomorrow if not. Should I just replace the whole thing if I'm already at it? Let me know what you think.

Thanks. Aaron

The valve is part of the pump, cannot be replaced by itself. Also, why would you go to all the trouble of taking the tank out and not replace the whole thing while you are there?

I just went through this a month ago and Yes Change out the fuel pump it will cure your problems or at least it did on my 1998 Supercab 4.0 ohv engine.

okay fuel pressure dropped to 15 psi and stayed there for 20 min does anyone know what psi it should be at with key off

Save yourself a lot of grief and change out your fuel pump.I went through the exact same problems for over six months trying to figure out why the pressure would drop and I just changed out the fuel pump and it made my truck a different animal completely very easy to start and runs great now.
