hi guys, well as u can see on the title thats the problem with my truck, it had serious stalling issues, before that the CEL would get ON/OFF randomly
a few days ago it just stuck On and the idle issues became worst, mileage dropped like crazy and it died on a sudden stop, poured black smoke also. took it for a scan and no luck. it wont detect the scanner
it did detected it once and throwed a code for the iac but went off

did a whole cleaning, maf, iac, tps, throttle body and all that stuff, CEL is still ON but it wont detect the scanner, runs like a champ now.

im gonna reset the ECU and see if the CEL keeps OFF, but why it doesnt detect the scanner?
we tested the scanner on my bro's 00 3.0 and mom's 03 2.3 and works fine.

mine is a 99 2.5 btw, all stock.

any input is welcome,
thanks :icon_thumby:

Check your fuses.

Some years, the OBDII port shared power with the cig lighter fuse.

i drove about 60 miles after reseting, did several shut and starts on engine, once i stopped for gas, i started it and CEL came on again, this is becaming annoying.

about fuses, the fuse for the OBDII wasnt there:icon_confused:
i found an extra fuse on the engine fuse box and that way we could scan it the first time(when it gave a code for IAC and egr).
the obd fuse is still there if i remember.

i remember that the other day i was listening radio and tried the cig lighter and it didnt worked, maybe that fuse is missing and thats why it wont accept the scanner.
im gonna check all the fuses asap and make sometime to take it for a scan again, i hate to drive with warning lights on.

seems like the cleaning did good, runs smooth, and no more stalling or sudden engine death.
havent measured mileage but seems it had a good increase.

any other suggestions?

just checked the fuses
cig lighter fuse is dead, dont know why but its toasted.
hopefully thats why it wont detect the scanner

lol take that POS to an autozone NOW!

lazy bastard

dude the shop is closed by now, and the truck runs fine
i bet its the O2 sensor, prolly its full of carbon too, this thing was pouring smoke like a diesel lol
i kept playing Diesel Power by the prodigy everytime i drove :headbang:

put some seafoam in the tank and drive the piss out of it let it set overnite then drive it hard again tomorrow fill the tank with gas then disconnect the battery for an hour then drive it hard again work it real good before the next test. pour about a cup and a half of water down the throttlebody at about 3000 rpm fast enough to almost kill the motor them drive the piss out of it are you seeing a pattern work it hard it will tell you what is wrong thw water will dissolve ay carbon in the motor or exh manifold possibly clean the O2 also
