My 2002 Ranger 3.0L has started giving me the check engine warning light. The OBD-II reader says the engine has a miss on the number 4 cylinder.

Usually this check engine light will go off after a time but then eventually returns with the same warning.

I have never felt a miss in this engine save for starting it up once on a very cold Colorado night and the miss went away when I cracked the throttle.

The truck has less than 15,000 miles on spark plugs, plug wires, coil pack, and cam synchronizer. The wires, coil pack, and synchronizer are all Motorcraft products.

I pulled the number 4 cylinder spark plug and it looks very good. I also made sure the plug wire was tight on the plug.

Where else can I look? Can this be an injector problem?

It could be an injector.
