Check engine light flickers when engine stalls

I have an 88 ford bronco II 2.9. i JUST replaced the fuel pump, it actually still works. Anyways a day later after replacing the damn thing, my engine keeps attempting to "stall", and every this happens, my check engine light comes on, and when the engine comes back alive while driving, it shuts off. And this is a really short gap of when the engine stalled and when it came back on, but it happens quite often, i had to pull over once and start over again so traffic didn't yell at me.

Think it needs a fuel filter? I did drop some dirt in the tank replacing the pump, like a chunk of it, but not enough to fill quarter of the tank up... I honestly probably spent more money fixing this thing than it's worth.

Hello,
That sounds like the TFI module on your distributor is about to totally fail. It could be a fuel delivery issue but unless your seeing smoke pop from the tail pipe when it "restarts".

It was during the night so i couldnt see smoke popping, but it smelled kinda rich maybe, it had a different smell in the exhaust lol

ill try and drive it again during the day. If smoke doesnt pop, think its a fuel delivery issue? Maybe fuel filter? I didnt change it when i put in the new pop, and before i changed it the sock was all covered in dirt lol
