Ok so i've been seeing alot of people lately asking how to get a few extra inches out of there stock suspension for cheap so i decided to put in my .02 cents and do a mini write up.....

well the tips im about to give you have been done by me and its all used or new if u want, go to the nearest auto wreckers and get a set of ford Explorer front coil springs (about 25$ each) and a set of rear leaf springs (50$) out of and explorer the year ranger is 1990-1994 go to the hardware store and get 2 leaf spring center bolts for the ranger leafs springs, then when u get all the spring start on the rear remove the rear wheels undo the u bolts on the axle (keep in mind u may also need new u bolts) using a grinder cut the center bolts on the ranger and explorer leaf spring packs, once thats done remove all leafs (except the main leaf thats bolted in) and rebuild the ranger spring using the individual explorer leafs u may choose to use a few ranger leafs (i did i ended up with a five leafs spring pack ) once the springs are how u want them slide the new center bolt in and tighten it up, reattach the axle and put the wheels back on, then put the explorer coils in the front and your done. the explorer springs all the way around should give u about 1.5-2.5" of lift and it should cost your wallet about 150$ cheap and proper if u have any question email me at dusty_ranger4x4@live.com

this write up was originally written by me for a guy on car domains who wanted to clear 32's when i did it on my truck i was able to clear 31's with no rubbing at all the guy mentioned reported that he gets very minor rubbing

also if anyone wants more info email me send a pm or somthing and ill send a detailed tech article if you want

I did :woot:. I was planning to throw some explorer springs in the rear of mine. I was going to use a add a leaf kit and replace the add leaf with the explorer springs. For two reasons a little lift and more towing capacity. But reading this just saved me like 600$. Especially when you added that you combined the explorer and ranger springs together. Does that increase towing greatly or slightly.

Good advice on cheap lifting. But add some punctuation; my head hurts from reading your post.

i dont know about towing my payload is a lil better, and so is handling, when i put a washer, a dryer and a deep freeze in the back the spring only went down an inch. i also have a coilover kit on my rear shocks tho too

How about putting explorer front springs on a 93?
