Hi I have a 1982 Ranger with a 2.8 V6 with auto transmission the engine is dead but I have access to a 2.3 v6 Does anyone know if it's a simple changeover??

I believe they didnt come with a 2.8 till 83 and if you have to pass emissions better check with the DMV and if it is ok you will have to change the computer and harness I would just put a 2.8 from the bone yard or a donor vehicle. What is wrong with the 2.8 your looking at alot of work for negative gain in my opinion.

2.3 V6?? isn't a 2.3 a straight 4?

pardon me, after some reading I found what you were talking about with the 2.3. wow I would wonder also if the hassle would be worth the effort, however, it would be one of a kind I am sure.
