not sure exactly what i'm looking for, but i don't think i want anything really flashy, because it just simply wouldn't match the truck. i don't offroad, but sometimes like the look of "tough-looking rims".

i do wish i could paint the truck sometime soon, and think that i would probably go with black/red, or black/grey. black being the majority of the body color, red or grey being like an accent, or a stripe down the middle, something like that.

not sure if i want black rims, or like silver/grey rims. not sure on materials either (don't really know what is out there anyway)

but i guess all i'm looking for is some suggestions? i don't have a huge budget, but i have a friend who is looking around (not sure if it's grey market or not haha), but would be nice to give him some stuff to look for.

i got a set of aluminum rims off a 2002 xploder. the po had already machined out the front wheels to go over the hubs. not cheap, but i like the style, just not the right color with my truck so i'll be painting them later. the aluminum finish just doesn't look right with the paint on my truck to me. i wanted aluminum because i'm running pretty heavy tires and didn't need the added weight of steel rims. the pic in my avatar is with the old steel wheels.

I wouldn't change those rims, they suit the truck perfectly. I would maybe repaint them (the same colours) and perhaps get new chrome outer rings. Id put the money into slightly bigger tires. Truck looks great :icon_thumby:

well i have to, i have a thread in general discussion if you're interested in reading it.

anyway, i lost an entire wheel and tire on the interstate, so i have to buy some new rims.

i do agree that they do fit the truck rather well, i've got a friend looking around, and i told him i don't want anything too flashy, because it won't fit the truck, but i don't necessarily want like "offroad" rims, because i don't offroad. but i'm not really sure i want a stock looking rim again. i am really digging some cragar soft 8s possibly. or i wish i coudl get some MT sidebiters lol, but those are a lil expensive.

thinking about going with say like 16's or 17's, that shoudl fit my tires fine right? i think the stock rims are 15's

going up 2 inches in rim size shouldn't effect how my tires fit should it?

personally I think going to a bigger rim in your case will make the truck look funny, but its your call, its your truck.

15" tires fit 15" rims plain and simple. 16" tires go 16" rims and so on.

I don't care for black, I would prefer grey. Some D-Slots painted the same color as the bottom of your truck your truck would look really sharp. If you want Cragerish looking gray rims, some later model Mustangs had a rim like that.

If you are on the cheap you won't have much selection unless you have a lot of time.

If I had that truck I'd put black or chrome Cragar D windows or Nomads on it.

what are all the options i would need with my truck?

i think i'll just stick with stock size
don't really need any more than stock width (i don't haul, i don't off road, just snow in the winter here)

but what i don't know about is like center bore, backspacing, offset, etc

i like the cragar nomad II's, but think they might be a little too flashy in the chrome and feel like they may not fit my truck too well

i also like the cragar d windows, they look like my stock ones now, except way nicer. the black really sets them off.

if you're buying new rims, the store will have all the back space, and other info already. if you're getting used, then just get them from a ranger and you should be good to go as they haven't changed wheel back spacing for quite a number of years really. you will need to have the larger center hole in the front as yours is a 4x4. it's not really a big deal to have the centers machined if you find a set you really like. any machine shop can do it for not a lot of money. good luck.
