Changing injectors?

Can I make my 2000 Ranger FFV motor run in my 98' Ranger using the 98' ECU and fuel system if I swap the injectors from my 98' motor into the 00'? Both motors are 3.0.

Thanks!

The 98' is not flex fuel, will changing the injectors take care of all the problems with it running poorly?

Probably.

I'm not too up on the newer models so there may be some other stuff, but the FFV injectors are like 50% larger than the stock 14s in a non FFV.

It would def run bad.

I bought an ECU off Ebay for the 2000 Flex fuel motor and right now I plan on attaching it and seeing what happens. I thought about changing the injectors, but really do not feel like going through all that work if I can avoid it.

Other thought...

Will I need to change out the fuel delivery system? The two systems run on different pressures with the flex fuel running on a lower PSI. However, according to my shop manual, the nonflex fuel run at 56-72 PSI while the flex fuel run at 47-63 PSI. It seems to me that its a wide range that it can run at and they BOTH overlap. Any thoughts?

No... Run ethanol in your non-FFV motor and it will eat up the natural rubber lines, unless they are the same between the two...

I have no plans on ever running ethanol in it, I am simply running a flex fuel motor on the old fuel system that runs at a higher PSI.

Why run the Flex Fuel system if you don't plan on using E85? The FFV motors get WORSE mileage on both gasoline and ethanol...

And if you run the FFV PCM, you will need the E85 fuel sensor.....along with the rest of the fuel lines.....

Thanks for all the input, I am going to swap the injectors this morning and see if it helps any. I got a PCM for the 2000 motor and can swap that and the fuel system if I must, it will suck having to put the old fuel injectors back and trying to find where the flex sensor plugs into the wiring since I do not have the harness for it.
Thanks guys!

the long block is the same, apart from slight compression difference. you should use your current 98 accessories ( intake, injectors, yadda yadda yadda)

it will work if you swap the accs, no problem!
