What's up guys. My '95 XLT Super has an open diff 8.8 and I'm considering completely redoing the drivetrain. Engine is either going to be a 302 or a 351 with gt40 heads. What I'm trying to figure out is if it would be easier to swap internals in the diff or if I should just go find an explorer to rip one out of. I'd rather build this one up but not quite sure of everything I need to get. If any of you guys can create a quick list for me, I'd appreciate it. I just need to know what I need to do to go from drum brake open diff to disc brake posi.

Several different ways to arrive at this.

Swap entire expo rear end to get discs, add an aftermarket locker inside, unless there was an expo that already came with the trac-lok?

Buy an 8.8 Trac-Lok carrier from the JY and swap into your housing with new clutches, and add the Mustang disc brake mod/swap.

Also consider the axle width, face to face, if swapping rear ends.

Expo rears are spring under axle sua and rangers are spring over axle soa. So spring perches will have to be moved as well as the spring bolt will have a to be flipped.

Unless his truck is a 2wd and he wants to lower it????

But I don't know if that's too much?
