Changed the O2 sensors now it won't accellerate

I posted earlier about my computer reset. I also changed the 02 sensors, now it starts fine , and idols great, but will barely accelerate. The sensors seamed easy to change, and I never had this problem before I changed the sensors. I was just trying to get the check engine light to go out, which it did, but still won't accelerate. I really need this truck for work, any help would be great. thanks, Denny
 
Did you reset the PCM after you changed the O2 sensor? If not, just disconnect the battery and turn the IGN on for 3 seconds. Then re-connect the battery and put the truck through a few drive cycles to re-learn.

I'll admit I'm confused about this. Does that mean that if you just disconnect the battery for a little while that it won't actually reset anything? Is it necessary to turn the key to the "ON" position and then re-connect the battery?
 
The idea of turning the ignition on or the headlights on is to dissipate any capacitors that might keep the KAM alive.

Yep. Its just to drain any extra power that might be stored in the PCM. Preferably the IGN on as that way, it will turn the PCM on.
 
kind of sounds like you got the upstream and downstream connectors plugged in backwards, try to swap the plugs and see what happens

What do you mean , plugged in backwards? I thought the up stream sensor were the same, one on each side. Denny
 
i meant if you were to replace all the O2 sensors on the truck you have at least one before the cat, and at least 1 after the cat. if those were to be connected backwards it would cause a lack of power.

i just assumed you replaced them all. usually the upstream and downstream connectors are right next to each other and are identical

Thanks for your input. I only changed the up stream ones , my truck has two.I have tried to reset the computer , Guess I am not doing that right either. It ran great before I changed the sensors. I unhooked the battery for five minutes, then let it idol for ten minutes. Still no change, Was I doing it right? thanks for your help. Denny
 
did you get generic sensors that you had to solder in? if so the wiring usually serves as the "tubing" for the atmospheric sample of air. sometimes when you solder and heat shrink the wires it seals it off too much and the wires can't "breath"

other than that all i can think of is they are defective sensors

There is absolutely no path from the O2 sensor element through the wires to atmospheric air!
 
STFO, yes there is

some designs use the wiring to breath for whatever reasons

No I got the bosh ones ,part number-15717, they plug in. If it was defective wouldn't my check engine light come on? Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your help. I am just stumped, Denny
