I have 86 ranger stx and just changed the heads and got it all back together but it won't start I have tried both TDC an squirting gas in the intake it don't act like it wants to run at all need ideas I have been over this thing like 40 time everything is plugged in all grounds are good turns over great but doesn't hit at all no idea what to do.

First figure out the spark.
Remove #1 spark plug(check if is is wet from fuel) and rotate crank by "bumping starter" until TDC mark is close to 0deg mark, 1/4 turn is close enough.
Now manually turn the crank in its running direction and put finger in #1 spark plug hole, tight, if you feel air being forced out as TDC mark approaches 0deg, that is the compression stroke, and distributor rotor should be pointed at #1 spark plug wire when TDC is on 0deg mark.
You can rotate the crank back and forth to confirm , if finger is not being forced out then distributor rotor should be pointed at #5 spark plug wire.

Assuming 2.9l engine, the firing order is 1-4-2-5-3-6
So crank is at TDC mark 0deg for #1 and #5, depending on which is on compression stroke(cam position), and if it ain't #1 then it has to be.........#5

Have you checked for spark, take #1 spark plug while it is out and hook it to #1 wire.
place spark plug threads so they are against metal, or if you have a set of jumper cables clamp threads in black cable, and clamp other end of cable to battery Ground.
Crank engine and see if you have spark, should be very hot spark.

If you have a test light test if Coil has 12volts..........when cranking the starter, it is a separate circuit.

Once you have spark confirmed, then try manually adding fuel to intake if you still have a no start.
If #1 spark plug was wet with fuel then spark was you problem so engine should now start

I have got it running now I had the fuel lines wrong but it's been 7 months since I tore it down and anyway I only got it running on the drivers side it fires right up but it's got a bad knock on the passenger side for some reason I can't get power the injectors on the passenger side injectors it's the 86 2.9 and I have already tested the injectors they are good and I changed the computer so I'm at a loss for I have been talking to a guy that works at a garage and really knows his stuff he walked me through all the things I've tried so far and the computer was last resort and option and thanks for answering

Well the injectors all share the same 12volt wire(red), it just runs from one injector to the next.
Computer Grounds the injectors to fire(open) them.

1986 will be Batch Fire injection, this means on a V6 2.9l system 3 injectors will fire at the same time.
#1, #2, #4 will fire at the same time(light green/white stripe ground wire), and #3, #5 and #6 will fire at the same time(tan/red stripe ground wire).

So one "side"(bank) not firing would have to mean 12volts is missing on that side.

Since the injectors are only 14ohms, with key on BOTH wires on each injector should show 12volts, if plugged in.
