I was needing plugs for my old '87 Ranger 4 banger. So I did my research, and since my truck uses SOME oil, I need copper plugs, could not justify the fancier types nowdays.
So I go to NAPA, and tell them I need copper, the cheap ones, and he gets some Champion plugs, alright cool.
So I went home, inspected the plugs, and one had the outer ground that was literally mis-set welded to the main steel body, it was offset by 1mm and the Gap was way off.
So 1 out of 4 plugs were bad! I also noticed the Champion plugs had more thread on it, compared to the old plugs in the motor(autolite copper cores) but the Champions seated just fine, THEN for the test drive I got engine noise in my AM/FM radio!!!!
(I only installed three plugs, and left the 4th old plug in, I did not install that defective plug)
So today I finally got some Autolites and changed the plugs, the radio noise is gone. The Champions have a silver plating on the metal parts, and on one plug the nipple that the spark plug snaps onto was loose, had to screw it tight, but the autolite plugs are a black plated steel.
