ok i have a 85 bronco II that i rough truck........... i saw on another guys Bronco he welded c hain on the frame and on the arm that comes back from the front end (trailing arm) but ur not suppose to weld heat bend this? Correct? i want to do this to keep the front end from falling all the way down. can i just weld to the frame and bolt to the bottom shock mount hole? thanks rough

i usuallu make a mount and drill a hole to bolt it on. or just drill a hole and bolt the chain/strap/cable on that way.

I second the limit straps. Desert trucks run them all the time to control wheel travel and keep shocks from popping apart. Limit straps also have some give in them, unlike chain which would stop and restrain instantly, similar to using tow straps vs lengths of chain.

do u guys mean drill the arm that comes back from the front end then strap it? i used old rachet strap pieces for the back will this work on the front? thanks rough

The radius arm is just stamped steel, you can weld all you want to that. Its the cast I-beams on a 2WD that need special procedures for welding.

I would also agree about the straps. Chain is gonna make a hell of a bang when it hits at full extension. Not sure if ratchet-strap material will be strong enough though (maybe if you doubled it up).

ratchet strap dont work they pull apart i tried. i got my hands on an old lifting sling the 1inch kind.. they hold up and don't mind a hole pushed not drilled though them ,seems when u drill them they stretch between the holes. and your strap gets longer i learned the hard way on the back , no strap up front.
