Cd player lights wont shut off?

I have an aftermarket cd player in my 2000 ranger. It's a dual XDM7510. When i was driving home from Dayton (30-40 minute drive) i noticed some smoke. I turned off my heat and it basically stopped right away (i could still smell it, but i didnt notice anymore smoke). So i get home and i check behind my cd player and there is no damage that i see (strange!). But when i go to park my truck at a friends house, my lights to my cd player won't shut off. I can hit the power button before i shut my truck off, and the lights remain on. Is there anything i can do? What is wrong? The cd player doesnt actually work when the car is off, but the lights remain on unless i unhook the power source.

You melted something. I'd look farther over towards the passenger side, near the heater box to see if there is anything damaged there.

Has it always done this or just when you smoked it? It may have blown a circuit and you wouldn't see any evidence unless you open the case and look at the circuit board, if thats what was smoking... Did it smell electrical? If it has always done this it might be wired incorrectly.

This is the first time it has ever done this. Also, it did smell a bit like plastic. I will look under the passenger side tomorrow because i am going to a wedding here in a bit.

sounds like something has melted inside of it
