Holy cow... I did do a leather cover on my F350, but it's an XLT so had a leather wrap originally (I think, unless someone before me added it, it's a factory job under there...) but I had to, the top was so warn away it got down to the foam padding and that got annoying... wrapped it with electrical tape for a while but that got annoying when it peeled off... then went with a leather or pleather (whatever I think $30 got me on Amazon for a kit), did the baseball stitch on it I think... that took a while but it's much less annoying now 
The slip on steering wheel covers or anything that makes the wheels bulky are stupid and are the first thing to go on any used vehicle I get that has one, come to think about it I think the F350 had one...
