hi all iam new here and just have a couple questions.
Ive read somewhere that removing my cat will give better fuel milage...? is this true??
recently i also disabled the egr valve and found that the truck is much harder on fuel...any answers to why this is? ive changed the spark plugs and i have a cold air intake on the way for it.
just mailly looking for fuel mileage. i might have to enable the egr valve again..

Oh the truck is a 94 2wd 5spd 373's reg cab.

LEAVE THE CAT IN!!!! it doesn't affect power or efficiency! plus it's a federal crime...

disabling the EGR gave you worse mileage because it can tell when it is working on that year so it is stuck in open loop or is throwing in more fuel to make it run without the EGR working

what kind of mileage are you getting? things like removing weight and smaller (mainly narrower) tires for less rolling resistance, a reasonable driving style (get a vacuum gage and watch how much load you have on the engine, pick your gears appropriately and keep the most vacuum you can) and just getting it in good mechanical shape are what's going to give you the best mileage, I would expect up to about 29 mpg with that setup
