Catalytic Converter???

I was playing in a mudhole today and my truck all of a sudden lost all power. It wouldn't go over 35. My friend said his did that one time and the timing belt jumped a tooth, but to beat the catalytic converter to make sure that wasn't the prob. Well I hit it a few times, and now the truck runs fine. I was just wondering, would playing in the mud cause that?

the combs inside the converter broke loose. time for a new cat.

the combs blocked the exhaust flow, and when you hit it, it knocked the blocked passage loose.

Thats kinda what I was thinking, that one got in the passage way from me horsin around in the mud. I'll just take it off. I live in the south, so no inspection .

oh come on i grew up in swansea about 15 miles from lexington. illegal or not find me a truck in swansea pelion gaston st matthews you name it that still has all the converters on it... we took them off every time we put pipes on the trucks, take them off shake the combs out put it back on

I thought it was legal if the catalitic converter itself was written off as bad and you had a shop remove it?

I agree with you mwood. I'm honestly to lazy to fool with it. I'll just wait and see if it acts up again before I mess with it

might as well. i can give you the number to a buddy in swansea that can fix it cheap if you need it

I can fix it, just don't feel like f***in with it. Funds are tight as it is anyway. I'll take care of it if it starts doin it again. Might need some help with a lift round spring time tho

in vermont if someone puts pipes on their trucks here theres no such thing as cats... the inspection garages here never plug in or check the cat... all they check is lights tires and ball joints and ur good to go lol
