Cat delete

I have a 2007 ford ranger with a v6 3.0L I recently swaped the muffler for a flow master 40 series and I wanted to perform a cat delete only problem is that there is a sensor right on the cats and I was wondering if there was anything that I could do to bypas those sensors any help would be great thanks

Well a quick search found several different posts, but you just opened up a can of worms man...and it can be done but a better question would be why do you even want to?

I live in an area where cats are not required plus trying to get better sound out of exauhst and to top it all off my my mechanic is saying my one cat is clogged and the other is in rough shape so doing a cat delete is the perfect solution and most cost effective

Removing catalytic converters is a federal felony punishable by $5000 dollars and up to 5 years imprisonment per removed cat (in your case 3). Discussion of doing so on an on-road vehicle is also highly frowned upon on this forum.

Your local laws do not matter at all in this case, if you live in the US and register the vehicle to be drive on public roads cats are in fact required. End of story.

Replace your cats, you won't gain any power or get better sound out of your shitty ass 3.0 car engine by deleting them.

They are required by law just about everywhere in the America's. Nobody may check for them but they are still required.

Yes...ask me how I know~

I removed an air pump from my 88 thinking it was broken and so what...could not find a pump or a bracket...could not even order them except from Californication...er, California...

So ten years after I removed this pump I get stopped...who is there but the Ministry of the Environment (in Canada we have funny names for these types)...and the guy gives me a fine...$365 just for showing up!

If I had removed the cat (which I later learned was gutted by the Previous Owner (PO)) it would have been much, much...or so much worse! Fortunately, I had read on TRS (here) that removing the cat would not help and could be a very financially painful experience...

So...bad idea...

Yeah, but the 4.0 got changed to actually make it a worthwhile truck engine, with decent low end power. The 3.0 got different head gaskets so it doesn't melt itself when you turn it sideways. And frankly they weren't too great in the cars either. About the only good thing to say about them is that they don't break often.

The 5.0 isn't a great truck engine either. The 5.0 is a car engine, it's power band is too high to proper use in a truck. The 5.8 boat anchor is the truck engine.

Same with the 4.6 and the 5.4. The 5.4 is a truck engine. The 4.6 is a related car engine slapped into a truck as an after though because the marketing wienies think the public needs an "economy" option for the high cylinder-count.

If your '07 needs a cat, you have other problems as well. Fix what clogged the cat first. PS. your mechanic is a doofus.

Told ya man can of worms lol. Don't take offense and learn from the people who have been there. Honestly replace the cats and be legal and trust me you won't get any performance gain. Now if you were running alcohol/nitrous/turbo then maaaaybe lol but yea stock is designed to flow plenty if it is working correctly.

plus lets not get into backpressure. keep the cat.

There may not have been anything wrong with the running to make it fail. IIRC the 06 and 07 Rangers had some bad cats. There was a run that just came apart. I had one that I replaced under warranty (cat warranty in PA is 8 year/80K miles) and it was just disintegrating. I mean I flipped it upside down just carrying it and left a trail of sand on the shop floor.
