Yes but no. The ranger axle is 28 spline side gears and the explorer uses 31 spline axle shafts.
 
Back to looking in junk yards then. The explorer is nice, and it holds the rear end better then the ranger did before I put in the L/S on the ranger. But it will still spin a tire If I put a little pedal in it on wet pavement.

Any old L/S from a explorer will do I am guessing, Just use the existing ring gear from mine?
 
Explorer or f150 with the 8.8 will work just fine. Both are 31 spline.
