Iv got an 88 Ranger with 373s f/b(front"d28"/back"7.5"ls) and plan to go with 456s picked up some lock-rights for the f/b; front w/housing and carrier and the rear w/ carrier.
The d28 had unknown gear ratio and the rear had 345s, I had planned to use the carriers to speed-up the swaps(using a friends"wife's" garage) but can find no ford carrier parts codes; and think there's a "carrier break" point at 345 to 373.

Do any of You have solid Intel on this?, Thanks all for Your help.

Ps.keep the muddy side up; but clean Your bottom!

MY bad, I need stamp codes to determine if the carrier will work for the gears not the locker!!.

the 3.73 ratio is the break you need for the 4.56's. the l/s in the rear won't work though if you are putting in a locker, iirc. i believe it needs to be an open diff for any other locker besides the factory l/s.
double check some of the threads here and also the tech library here on trs to make sure.

good luck with your project and Welcome to TRS.
